Special Order and Custom Syringes

These are some examples of special-order and custom syringes that are available from ILS. With state of the art glass syringe manufacturing located directly in-house and an accommodating engineering staff we can quickly develop a custom solution at your request. If you can imagine it, just ask, and the chances are good that it can be done.

Side Port Syringes

Side Port Syringes

These syringes have a side port connector attached to the glass barrel. The glass barrel has a precision-drilled hole that allows access to the inner chamber via the port. These side ports can be mounted at the upper part of the barrel or the lower part of the barrel, or even anywhere in between. The threaded connection in the port can be any size or form factor specified in order to accommodate the connection fitting of your choice. It is even possible to add multiple side ports to a single syringe if required.

Some examples of applications for the side port syringes are:

  • Add additional liquid or a sample into an existing liquid that has already aspirated by the plunger.
  • Removal of small amounts of liquid from the barrel, such as for timed samplings.
  • Create an inert environment by adding inert gas above the liquid (top-positioned port).

A side port can be added to any ILS syringe. Just send us your request and we will prepare a drawing to your specifications and then create the custom syringe.

The Twister 360 Syringe

Twister 360 Syringe

New for 2013. The Twister 360 Syringe with twistable glass barrel. After connecting the thread it is still possible to turn the glass barrel 360 degrees around its axis. This allows you to turn the syringe so that the scale is clearly visible. It is also most valuable when combined with a side port syringe, as it lets the position of the side port be adjusted after the syringe has been attached. The Twister modification is available for every thread-connected automated liquid handling syringe with 60mm or 30mm stroke.

Integrated Washer

Syringe Integrated Washer

New sealing technology for automated liquid handling systems. Instead of using a separate washer to provide a seal between the syringe fitting and the installation port, the washer is attached to the opening and will not fall out. This offers several advantages over the current system:

  • 42% more surface area to provide a more reliable seal.
  • Increased lifetime.
  • Easier to install the syringe, no need to worry about losing the washer.
  • Don't have to worry about washer being stuck up inside the port when the syringe is removed.
  • Automatically provides a seal when the syringe barrel is tightened.

The integrated washer is available as an option for every thread-connected automated liquid handling syringe with 60mm or 30mm stroke.
